Team Infinity has been out and about racing and competing the last couple months.
Here is an update of results from Sept/Oct 2009
Tahitian Patrice Chanzy finished 1st Place in the Tahiti Down Wind stock race. The race was full of some crazy winds and open ocean swells. When it was all said and done, Patrice finished ahead of the pack on his 12'6" Steve Boehne hand shaped Ocean Racer.
Patrice also took 1st Place honors at the Annual Taapuna Masters SUP surf competiton. The contest was held in contestable head high Taapuna. Patrice rode his 9' Carver model which helped him drop in with on the hallow lefts and lay down some nice turns in the windy conditions.
The Battle of the Paddle race came to town last month and was a HUGE success. Thousands of paddle enthusiasts came from far and near to check out the action, compete, and enjoy the 2nd annual festivities! Infinity was there in full force showing off the latest SUP designs at our booth and having fun competing and hanging out with all of our friends. Also, Steve has been credited for shaping/designing the worlds first "tandem" SUP raceboard. Steve and Barrie broke new ground as the first tandem SUP race team ever to compete in a race.

Team Infinity highlights from the Battle!
Last month concluded with a couple SUP surf competitions. the Annual Dale Velzy Classic at Doheny State Beach and the Seafest SUP event held at the San Clemente Pier.
The Dale Velzy event was blessed with some waist to chest high waves at the rivermouth. When it was all said and done Team Infinity took 4 spots out of the 6 man final.

The Seafest Event wasn't so lucky with tiny waves lapping close to the pier. When the tide dropped competition resumed and actually saw a few fun lefts peeling off the north side of the San Clemente Pier. We had a blast and took home some hardware!

Infinity SUP Team Member Brian Haag placed 1st at this years "Jay Moriarty Memorial Paddle Race" held up in Santa Cruz, CA.
Brain, AKA "Paddle Froth" competed in the 14' Unlimited Class 2 mile short course 18-39 Age Division. Riding an Infinity KuKu Hoe Ocean Racer hand shaped by Steve Boehne, he finished with a time of 0:23:59 and 2nd Place was 0:26:17.... Smoke on the water!

This Carver Single Wing Swallow is the latest in high-performance surfing SUP's. We have been fine tuning the outline, rocker, and fin placement in Tahiti and right here in California for the last few months.
This SUP features a narrower and thinner shortboard inspired rocker, outline, and foil. Available from 8'6" and up.
We place the wing directly above the fins for quick release and bite just like they do on high-performance shortboards and fish.
Wings placed further up the rail tend to make the SUP feel more "tippy" while paddling and dig rail in smaller surf.

This paddle has been getting some pretty good buzz and we are very pleased in how this collaboration paddle came out! Steve Boehne designed this paddle with the guys over at Werner Paddles to make the best surfing style SUP paddle available. Made from Fiberglass this paddle is very strong and light weight. Not quite as light as a carbon fiber paddle, but a lot easier on the wallet! Priced at $262 for the standard neck version and $280 for the adjustable neck.

Steve's tested ottertail head shape. The narrow blade has a softer entry and easier pull. Power is focused higher on the blade, closer to the paddler providing a leverage advantage. It also is quicker in acceleration (faster through the water) for getting your board speed up for catching waves on the fly. This shape also is easier on your elbow and shoulder joints.
The cambered shape matched with fiberglass construction promotes a very quick to accelerate flex pattern. Making sure you never miss another wave! Also the head shape is much more controlable while using it to pivot in and out of turns.
Adjustable neck is nice and useful to use the same paddle for multiple humans on the fly.
Pre-shaped T-grip handle fits in the palm of your hands nicely.

Steve has taken his popular otter tail paddle theories and partnered up with Werner to manufacture the best surfing style SUP Paddle available!
