Steve Nishimoto "Soldier"

Steve Nishimoto is a New York-based designer whose work reflects his passion for change through urban cultural movements and art forms. Growing up in Chicago during the 1980s, the interplay between letterforms in the graffiti tags around him became an early inspiration for his logo design. After studying commercial art in Chicago’s largest high school, he graduated from the American Academy of Art with a BA in Illustration. A colorful experimental series of photos from Chicago’s skyscraper rooftops spawned a burgeoning interest in photography that continues to influence his design work. For example, his shirt series for 2K reconstructs photographs of dinosaur bones to render familiar objects as slightly ghoulish and creepy. Steve is currently freelancing after stints at Associates in Science and as Senior Designer for Zoo York. His clients include Burton, Analog, The Blowup Magazine, and MTV Networks. He continues to characterize his work through his life experiences and is constantly growing as an artist.www.nish.net
